Fresh Milled Sour Dough Bread

My weekly grind! I love making fresh milled whole wheat bread. I started my sourdough starter 5 years ago, before the world fell apart. I started with organic flour that I was purchasing but soon after discovered that I could mill my own flour from wheat berries! Wow, game changer. My husband purchased me a grain mill for my Kitchen Aid Christmas two years ago. Being new to milling grains I made due with my Kitchen Aid mill . It honestly worked well for two years, well the first year it was awesome but the second year we adjusted the mill because it wasn't grinding as fine. Even with the adjustment we made I was having to grind the fresh milled flour once more using a coffee mill. Worked well. However, I just purchased a NutriMill Classic (I wanted this type instead of a stone mill). Game changer! I always use hard red wheat plus another type of wheat berry mixed in. Plain Cake 1 cup butter 2 cup sugar 3 or 4 eggs 1 cup sweet milk 3 cup flour 3 tsp Baking Powder 1 tsp vanilla (No instructions given on how to mix or cook. Assuming that she already new how.) Filling for Coconut Cake 2 cup sugar 1 cup water or coconut milk 2 egg white Cook sugar with water until spins an thread, pour into stiff beaten egg white add coconut and vanilla. Being Better Prepared with Thrive Life!

Being prepared, that's where my thoughts have been since 2020. We all know that the world was in complete turmoil for 4 years. Items were missing from grocery store shelves and shipments where delayed or blocked. I started to take stock of my pantry selves, seeing what I was missing. How could I be better prepared in the future? One thing I did was can my meats and produce, some from my own gardens. I also dehydrated. But still, looking back now, I realize that I was short on one thing- longer term food storage. Freeze dried foods have a 25 year shelf life and I know that they will come in handy in a "just incase" scenario. Yes, my canned goods will keep for 5-10 years. (Canning books recommend rotating canned goods within a 2 year window.) But why not think longer! I was looking at which companies offered the best prices and products, something better than the selections that can be found on Amazon.
